Please :+fav:/:+favlove: this and spread the love! :nerd:

Earlier today, I posted a journal. It contained not the most thought-out of ideas, but still an idea.

What if we, as the deviantART community, set aside an amount of time to comment on every piece of artwork to enter our inbox? It might be a little time consuming, but think about it! If at least even 50 people commented on the new art pieces of everyone they watched, that would make the artists feel more appreciated and inspired to create more! Not only that, it could make the community in general shine even more positively. :eyes:

I know, it would be almost impossible to comment on ALL of the stuff in your inbox, especially if you get 500+ deviations a day. So, at LEAST try to comment on all the artworks from individual artists only (NOT group submissions). I'm sure a ton of you guys out there watch a fair share of artists! Show them some love and appreciation by being an active watcher!

So, when would this event be held?
Saturday, September 2nd through 5th is our ideal weekend. No work, no school, and plenty of chances to comment! :la:

Guidelines to Being an Awesome Commenter

:bulletblue:Be in-depth.:bulletblue:
Few-word comments like "I like this, keep up the good work!", "Good job!", or even "cute" are nice to get, but they don't really say much about your thoughts on the artwork. Get into detail about what you like about the artwork! Describe exactly what you like and don't like, but keep positive about it!

:bulletblue:Use good grammar!:bulletblue:
No one likes to get comments they can't read! It's understandable if your first language isn't the same as the uploader's, but nothing good comes from lazy typing! Get a spellchecker (or a dictionary) if you have problems spelling, (Google Chrome has a built-in spellchecker!) and make sure to preview the comment before sending it! :)
Google Translate also works well if you watch someone who doesn't speak your language at all. (i.e. Russian)

:bulletblue:Don't forget punctuation!:bulletblue:
Make sure to use the Shift key, 'apostrophes' (right next to the Shift key  for your convenience) and don't forget periods. Or commas, or exclamation points! Maybe even question marks?
Punctuation is key!

:bulletblue:Embellish your thoughts with emoticons!:bulletblue:
Not only do deviantART emoticons and plz accounts make your comments look pretty, they can also help the artist understand your feelings about the drawing! So throw in a few emoticons (I'm personally very expressive, I generally throw in an emoticon after every sentence) and show some love!

The positivity doesn't have to end there! Remember, you can feel free to comment on whatever, whenever!

And don't forget, there are more ways to get involved with the community! Check out the Daily Deviations, a random deviation, a random artist, or even the forum! There are many ways to easily get involved with the dA community! :giggle:

If you have any questions, please NOTE ME. (Sailor-Pikmin) I do not reply to news comments because I have a pretty full comments section in my inbox already. :giggle: HOWEVER, ALL comments are read, all suggestions taken into consideration, even if they do not receive a reply.

I like this idea! I think it would really inveigle me to comment on the stuff in my inbox. I really used to do it a lot, then I got lazy and now my inbox is in the 3000s nearing 4 :/
It makes me feel kinda bad, especially when the deviations are by people I'd consider friends :stare: I'm pretty sure I can do this during the time allotted. (and it may bring me to doing it more often too :la:) Sounds like a great idea, but I think it needs more promotion.
I'll put it in my very barren signature as well.
